COTFIX® reactive dyes are manufactured at Sayakha and Vatva for cotton, viscose and other cellulosics. Each series is built for a different combination of process, shade depth and fastness requirement — this page explains which one fits which job.
Choosing between the series

The eight series in detail
VS Series — vinyl sulphone
Sulphoethyl sulphone based dyes whose vinyl sulphone group forms a covalent bond with the hydroxyl group of cellulose. Better solubility and alkali stability than conventional reactives, with excellent fastness across a wide blacks and navy range. Runs on exhaust, cold pad batch, continuous and printing. The general-purpose workhorse of the range.
ME Series — VS-MCT bifunctional
Two reactive groups on one molecule — vinyl sulphone and monochlorotriazine. That pairing gives lower-temperature, high-exhaustion dyeing with a broad shade gamut and good build-up for deeper shades. Strong wash fastness and reproducibility, and it mixes with VS dyes for vibrant shades. Suitable for exhaust, cold pad batch and continuous.
HE Series — high exhaust, 80–95 °C
Bis-monochlorotriazine dyes engineered for high fixation by exhaust dyeing at 80–95 °C. The complex structures are tailored to maximise interaction with cellulose fibres, giving high exhaustion and fixation efficiency, better build-up behaviour, and the shade consistency that repeat orders depend on.
RGB Series — one-tone build-up
High-performance dyes that build up in one tone, suited to warm dyeing and padding. Higher strength and good build-up, with a better probability of metameric matches — useful when a shade has to hold under different light sources. Exhaust, CPB and continuous.
D Series — deep shades
Developed for washing and rubbing fastness in deep shades that other reactive classes struggle to reach. The economics are the point: where 10%+ of other reactive groups would be needed, the same colour depth is achieved with 3–4% COTFIX D.
RR Series — light and medium shades
Selected and chemically modified speciality dyestuffs for very light and medium shades, with good all-round fastness. Pale shades are unforgiving — small dosing variations show — so this series is built for control at low concentrations.
Blacks — Reactive Black 5 family
Built on Reactive Black 5 (COTFIX Black B) and branded into different blacks by tone and depth. Black B is the primary vinyl sulphone black with good compatibility and dischargeability; Black WNN produces a neutral-toning black. Seven blacks in total, because "black" is never one colour in practice.
H/P Printing Series — monochlorotriazine
Monochlorotriazine dyestuffs with high alkali stability, made for prolonged printing and steaming cycles. The most robust dyes in the range for stability — high substantivity, high alkali stability, low reactive character — giving vibrant dark prints. Mixable with VS dyes.
Matching a series to your process
Reactive dyes bond covalently to the hydroxyl groups in cellulose, which is why the colour survives repeated washing rather than sitting on the fibre surface. Which reactive system does that bonding — and at what temperature — is what separates the series.
Exhaust dyeing
The batch process most mills run — fabric or yarn circulating in a dyebath while dye exhausts onto the fibre. HE is purpose-built for it at 80–95 °C with high fixation efficiency. ME works at lower temperatures, which cuts energy cost per batch. VS and RGB both run exhaust comfortably.
Cold pad batch (CPB)
Padding dye and alkali onto fabric, then batching at ambient temperature for several hours. Economical on energy and water, but it demands dyes with alkali stability and predictable build-up. VS and ME are the two series specified for it.
Continuous dyeing
Long runs at speed, where reproducibility across metres matters more than anything else. VS, ME and RGB all run continuous — RGB in particular for its one-tone build-up, which keeps shade consistent as concentration varies.
Printing and steaming
Print paste sits on fabric far longer than dye sits in a bath, and steaming applies sustained heat and alkali. That punishes reactive dyes with high reactive character. The H/P Printing series is monochlorotriazine precisely for this — high substantivity and alkali stability through prolonged cycles. VS also prints well and the two are mixable.
Made at two plants in Gujarat
COTFIX® is manufactured at Unit 1, Sayakha (Bharuch) and Unit 2, Vatva (Ahmedabad), with in-house laboratories at both sites plus Ahmedabad and a regional lab at Ludhiana. Every lot is tested before dispatch and every shade is traceable, which is what makes the published fastness figures on this page dependable rather than indicative.
The plants operate Zero Liquid Discharge with MVR and ATFD, and two-stage RO. That matters commercially as well as environmentally — brands auditing their supply chain increasingly ask what happens to the effluent, and ZLD is the answer that closes the question.
